How to start a dropshipping business in Bangladesh

A step-by-step plan to start dropshipping in Bangladesh: registration, supplier, taka pricing, COD and wallet payments, courier setup and the first ten orders.

This is the operational sequence for launching a dropshipping business in Bangladesh, in the order that avoids wasted money. Read the country overview first if you have not.

01Decide local, international, or both

Selling to Bangladeshi customers means taka, COD and local courier. Selling from Bangladesh to customers abroad means dollars, card payment and international fulfilment — a different business with different paperwork.

Start with one. Local is faster to a first order; international is easier to scale on margin.

02Sort out the boring paperwork early

A trade licence from your city corporation or union parishad and a TIN are the standard baseline for a registered retail business. If you intend to receive money into business accounts or take card payments, providers will ask for them.

You can validate demand before this, but do not build a payment stack on a personal account and hope it scales.

  • Trade licence from the local authority
  • TIN for tax filing
  • Bank account or merchant wallet in the business name
  • National ID for payment and payout verification

03Connect a supplier account

Open your own supplier account — CJ Dropshipping for general goods, Printful for print on demand — and connect it with an API key, not your login password. That connection is what lets product cost, stock and fulfilment flow automatically.

04Build the storefront and price in taka

Create the store, import ten to fifteen products, and check each selling price after FX and margin. Write delivery times for inside and outside Dhaka on the product page.

05Turn on COD, bKash and Nagad

Enable cash on delivery first, then connect your own bKash and Nagad merchant credentials so prepaid money lands in your account directly. A personal wallet number with manual confirmation works as a stopgap while merchant accounts are pending.

06Set up the courier and your pickup address

Save your pickup address once. From then on each order can be booked to the courier from the order screen, and delivery status flows back automatically.

07Run the first ten orders by hand

Share the store in your own network, relevant Facebook groups and WhatsApp. Call every customer, confirm addresses before booking, and record each failure reason. Ten completed deliveries tell you more than any course.

Questions

How much capital do I need?
Enough to cover supplier cost and courier fees on your first orders plus a small test ad budget. No inventory purchase is needed.
Can I do this from outside Dhaka?
Yes. Your pickup address determines courier pickup; customers can be anywhere the courier delivers.
Do I need my own website?
You need a storefront customers trust. A branded store on dropshop.bd with your own name, products and checkout does that without you building or hosting anything.
